Greetings families and scholars. Our journey has begun into the world of fifth grade Math and Science.
In math, we have tackled the Number Base Ten standards, that include adding, subtracting,dividing and multiplying decimals. This can be reinforced at home throughout the year. Perhaps, while at the store scholars can add costs of items together, for example. Creating real life scenarios can bring a greater understanding of the skills being learned. Soon, we will expand upon fourth grade understanding of multi-digit multiplication and division. The following link provides the math curriculum

Our science journey, has lead us from the identification of the organs of the human body to plants and animals. Ask your scholar to explain our celery investigation. It was amazing watching and listening to them make connections with the functions of plants and the human body! We will navigate weather and climate next. We have already been tracking the weather daily. This will be fun to compare data collected at the beginning of the year to the current date.
